Editing Captions
To edit closed captions in News Cut, create a new project with subtitle support. In the Captions Track field of the dialogue window, specify the number of subtitle tracks.
Create an empty subtitle clip on a project timeline. It is preferable for duration of the created subtitle clip equals duration of the current video clip. Right click the subtitle track and select Add Empty Clip. Thus, a clip containing subtitles has been added to the project: it can be moved and edited along with video clips.
Working with subtitles requires using the Caption Track window and subtitle tracks on the timeline. The Caption Track window allows viewing all subtitles of the selected track. The subtitle track selected on the timeline is highlighted with the “CC” icon.
To add a subtitle, place the cursor to the needed position on the Timeline, right click in the Caption Track window and select New Caption.

Set the duration of displaying and the subtitle text in the opened window. Added subtitles will be displayed in the Caption Track window and on the Timeline.
Visual viewing subtitles is implemented in the Master window. Subtitle displaying settings are implemented in the menu: Newscut→Edit→Configure→Open Captions Preview

You can add an additional subtitle track to the timeline via the menu: Newscut→Tracks→Add Caption Track…
.
Select the language of the added track in the opened window.

Export of Editing List to Final Cut Pro7 interchange XML
Starting from 2.0.62 version, News Cut provides the function of editing list export in the format «Final Cut Pro7 interchange XML» (EDL).
Saving Editing List
Select the item: Меню File→Export timeline→Export FCP7 XML Interchange…
Select a folder and name for the saved editing list.
When saving the editing list, News Cut is checking BRV copies availability (original materials). Archive files are automatically placed to the restoration queue.
- HiRes OK - the number of BRV available in the online mode.
- HiRes OFFLINE - the number of BRV unavailable at the moment.
- Scheduled restore - the number of requests for restoration of BRV copies.
Import of Editing List on Example of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
Open the menu: Меню File→Import…
. Select the All Supported Media or Final Cut Pro XML mode and open the XML file saved earlier in News Cut.
The window Project will display the folder containing BRV clips and the editing list. The folder name will coincide with the imported XML file name.
